Praslin, the second-largest island in the Seychelles, falls somewhere between the busy and noisy activities of Mahé and the sleepiness of La Digue. Like Mahé, Praslin is a granite island, with a ridge of small mountains running east–west along the centre. It is 12km long and 5km across at its widest point.

The inhabitants of Praslin are scattered around the coast in a series of small settlements. Vallée de Mai, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most peculiar attractions in the Seychelles can be visited. You will have the chance to see the famous Coco De Mer in its natural environment along with the insect-eating pitcher plant, vanilla orchids, and some of the earth’s rarest birds: the Seychelles bulbul, fruit pigeon, and the black parrot on the nature trails when walking through the forest.

Praslin has all you need to decompress. Famous and magnificent beaches with powder white sand,like Anse Lazio, which has consistently been voted one of the world’s best beaches. Most of the beaches offer secure swimming and near to perfect snorkeling among the living corals, which are the homes of a startling nine hundred species of fish. You can hire a bicycle, a taxi, enjoy an organised trip round the island, or hire a self-driven car to enjoy a free ride around the island.

The island also has unique features such as being the sole island in the Seychelles with a Championship Golf course. It is also the best spot to kick off a journey towards other islands like La Digue, Cousin, Curieuse and St. Pierre. These stunning islands are homes to thousands of birds and turtles, and their waters hold beautiful coral reefs which will be a feast to the eyes of snorkellers.
